event eating

dinner tonight with Di & co at iron bridge was super tasty, of course:

Amuse
Poached Oysters in a Salsify, Yukon Potato Chowder
First Course
Braised Veal Confit, Buttermilk Biscuit, Iron Bridge Grand Cur Gruyere Surchoix
Second Course
Lamb Daube: Braised Lamb, Olives, Parmesan Potato Gnocchi
Dessert
Raspberry and Blueberry Clafoutis, Quenelle of Orange Scented Mascarpone

i don’t even know what half of those words translate to, other than “cute & tasty.” the theme for the wines was all shiraz & syrah, all of which were likewise of course lovely.

after dinner, we were chatting with  Rob, the owner, about upcoming events.  this one’s wacky, guys:  not quite a hundred years ago, the titanic sank on april 15th.  the titanic disaster is a big obsession for a lot of people, and there’s plenty of info on little trivia minutiae available.  so, the plan for dinner april 15th is to serve the same 10 course meal that was served in 1st class.  damn.  this’ll take a few hours.

anyone want to head on over to the greater b’more/dc area for a long weekend?

  1. This place sounds fabulous !! I so wish G’s project was still in B-more. I’d be up there visiting for free once a month.
