what’s the opposite of dropping off the face of the earth?

or, 3rd time’s the charm, i suppose.

round about 3 months ago, at the end of the 1st quarter, my company went through a round of layoffs.  i thankfully survived, but unfortunately my sidekick did not.  which means that i’ve been running a one-woman show for quite a while now, and it’s really wearing.  the cross to bear on all of that was that for the last 6 weeks, we’ve had a study ongoing that required the vet (y.t., of course) to be in doing eye exams on the involved animals every damn day.  which is to say, that since it is now nearly 5pm and i think i can safely call today “off”, this is my first day off in 48 days.  i have officially gone insane and my productivity has been less than flawless, to say the least.

meanwhile, one of my bestest sister girls got me irrevocably hung up on facebook.  everyone and their cat can be entertained at one-sentence witticisms even when i don’t have anything grandiose to say.

combine these 2, and therein lies my total absence to blogging.  i’ve now had 3 people ask me if i was quitting altogether, so apparently, more than one someone occasionally reads this.  if there’s anything i can do to help someone procrastinate at work a bit, well, as the high queen of all slackerdom, i’m honor-bound  to provide whatever assistance i can.  i’ll be back-dating a handful of things that have been languishing in drafts for a good while (my month of adventures – new york!  horse racing!  arizona!  sailing!  the titanic (not the last 2 at once!) – if nothing else), and getting around to telling longer-format stories that just don’t fit on the character limit of FB.

here we go again!

  1. It’s nice to see you back here!

But 48 days without a day off? Yikes! You make me feel like a slacker.
